Princess Märtha Louise of Norway was the host of Christmas Concert 2009.

Starting in 2004, the siblings and eminent young musicians Mari Silje and Håkon Samuelsen have organized a yearly classical concert in December in Vang church in the Olympic city of Hamar, Norway. Apart from acting as artistic directors, the siblings perform as soloists at the concerts. Every year they have brought soloists of worldwide renown with them, and have succeeded in creating a local tradition.

The drive behind creating the concert was Mari Silje and Håkon's wish to give something back to their home region. Both have received numerous awards as well as invaluable support from local businesses. Several of these partners now also contribute to organizing the yearly concert.

Mari Silje and Håkon have been able to bring outstanding partners and performers to the concerts, always drawing on their vast network of contacts in the international world of classical music and bringing great artists back to their own region.
